A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another, the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages,[c] while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

- 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

We are all blessed with various strengths and talents, and these spiritual gifts allow us to help and minister to others in the most fitting ways. Do not let your gifts go wasted, but instead, use them to worship God. Make a difference to those around us by making use of the gifts through the purpose He has intended. Also, recognize in this passage that He did not gift us all with the same gifts, so it is unnecessary to be jealous or envious of others' gifts and strengths. Focus on the gifts the Spirit has given you and be grateful for them. They are called "gifts" for a good reason.

Reflection: What do you think your spiritual gifts are? How can you use these gifts to help others? Consider a meaningful way of using your gift(s) to help those close to your or those within your community.
