“6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

- Colossians 2:6-7

Fullness in Christ is achieved not by regarding the philosophies, traditions, rules and expectations of our earthly culture. Instead, in this letter, Paul guides us to find spiritual richness and fulfillment through a life in Christ. Depending on the translation, some say to "walk in Christ", others say "to live in Him", or to "live your lives in Him". By living each moment or walking each step in Christ, we will be grounded spiritually, having our faith 'strengthened', with our hearts bursting with gratefulness. There is a freedom from the old way of life and regulations in our human lives. We are called, later in this book to refute the ways in which we live prior to having Christ in our lives. By living holy, we bury our previous life and are reborn in a life rooted in Christ.

There are times in our lives when we may feel empty, at a loss, and void of joy and happiness. Even when things are going well and we have everything we wanted, there can still be moments when we still feel as though we are missing something. This can be the trouble when we turn our thoughts on our earthly fortunes and materialistic wants. If, instead, we concentrate on building our lives in Christ, we may find ourselves more fully immersed, in a life 'overflowing with thankfulness'.

Reflection: Is there one thing you can do daily or regularly to help remind yourself to live or walk in Christ? Pray, ask for guidance, and act on living fully in Christ. Then consider your blessings and give thanks.
