“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone, who believes--the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘it is through faith that a righteous person has life.’”

We all like to hear good news to brighten up our day, but the best and ultimate 'Good News' of all is surely the information about Jesus Christ. Jesus, as God's son, was sent to Earth to be sacrificed for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead, and through his death and resurrection, we are saved. It is not by our actions nor merit that we find salvation, but rather through the simple yet difficult act of faith. By believing in Jesus, and recognizing the truth that Jesus had died on the cross for our sins, we become righteous, and we find life.
Isn't this such joyous news? For this reason, many of the passages that Paul authors involves him spreading this Good News. This Good News is the foundation of our beliefs and we should be so tremendously overjoyed and feel so completely loved. It is such Good News that as Christians, we would want to shout it out from our roof tops and share the Good News. Yet so often, we do not. Of course, we want to be mindful in our approach in sharing the Good News. Let's be honest though, are we also fearful in sharing the Good News? Are we shamed?
Reflection: What does the Good News mean to you? Reflect in the past year - have you shared the Good News? Why or why not? If we are feeling ashamed or frightened to share the Good News, think of why it is so. Reconsider different ways in which you can share and rejoice in the Good News in a way that is suitable for you.
